The contribute of the Diaspora in the overall social welfare - the case of Debar

Globalization and technological advancement have led the phenomenon of immigration to take a different approach, especially in the century in which we live. Throughout the history of humanity, but also over the past century, immigration outside the borders was seen as a phenomenon that has negative consequences for the country from which people leave. However, if we take it in the long-term, we will see that Diaspora's role is essential for the country's democratization. The process of democratization is influenced by many factors such as urbanization, social welfare, education, promotion of private businesses, international co-operation, democratic protests, and so on. Through this research paper, we aim to highlight the role of the Diaspora in the overall social welfare, focusing on the case of Debar. The population of Debar that has migrated to the United States marks nearly five decades of displacement from their homeland, and their number in this country is tens of thousands. Through interviews and other collected information, we will highlight the contribution that the Diaspora of Debar has given in the raising of the standard of living and promoting other factors of the democratization process. Diaspora's contribution is not only in terms of family members and groups but also more extensive. Establishment of Diaspora Associations has led them to be more organized and better to manage the support of their homeland.
